Look for puzzles where pieces have a clear visual reference, like a picture of the whole image beneath each piece. For 2 to 3 years: puzzles with 6 to 20 interlocking pieces. Real cardboard jigsaw-style puzzles with chunky pieces. Favourite themes like animals, transport, and characters from books they love. For 3 to 4 years: 20 to 50 piece puzzles are appropriate and challenging enough to provide real satisfaction when completed.
